Buying a Bengal Kitten

From your first enquiry to bringing your kitten home, here is how buying a Bengal from Wild Grace Bengals works.

We take time to understand your household, help you choose a suitable kitten and explain the price, care and purchase terms before you reserve.

Start with a conversation

Your household, your timing and the right match

Tell us about the people and animals in your home, your experience with cats and when you hope to welcome a kitten. You are welcome to ask questions while you are still deciding whether a Bengal will suit your life.

We discuss daily interaction, play, enrichment and secure living arrangements. Our kittens must live indoors, with any outdoor access limited to a secure enclosure or enclosed garden. Unrestricted roaming is not suitable.

We consider your preferences alongside each kitten’s temperament and needs before approving a purchase. Choosing a kitten is a conversation about suitability, not simply choosing a coat colour.

Planning ahead? Joining our waiting list is free. A deposit is only required when you reserve a specific kitten. Waiting-list order and family suitability both inform matching; joining does not guarantee a particular kitten or date.

Get to know the kitten you are considering

Before reservation, we share the kitten’s identity, age, sex, coat colour and pattern, personality and activity level. You will also receive photos or videos, parent details and a relevant summary of the parents’ health testing.

We explain the kitten’s vaccination, microchip and desexing information, their price, pet or breeding-rights status, and expected collection or delivery date. This gives you practical information to consider before making a commitment.

Photos, videos and regular progress updates help you follow your kitten’s development. Live video calls are available by arrangement. We do not offer visits or meet-and-greets before collection.

Reserve a specific kitten

Once we have approved the match and you are ready to proceed, an AUD $500 deposit reserves your kitten. It is deducted from the total purchase price.

Your written deposit acknowledgement identifies the kitten and records the deposit received, total price, remaining balance and deposit terms. Please read the cancellation and inability-to-supply arrangements below before paying.

Every buyer signs a written purchase agreement before collection or delivery. Pet kittens are companions only, carry no breeding rights and are desexed before leaving. Breeding rights are available only for selected kittens.

Payments and changes of plan

Understand what is due, when it is due and what happens if a reservation cannot go ahead.

Paying the remaining balance

The balance must be paid in full before collection or delivery. Bank transfer, PayID and PayPal are accepted for deposits and balances. Written receipts or payment confirmations are provided for both.

If you choose to cancel

For a standard kitten reservation, the AUD $500 deposit is retained if you voluntarily cancel. Any purchase payments above the deposit are refunded within seven days of cancellation or the refund agreement.

If we cannot supply your reserved kitten

If Wild Grace Bengals cannot supply the specifically reserved kitten for reasons outside your control, you may choose a full refund of all payments, including the AUD $500 deposit, or transfer all payments towards another suitable kitten.

These are the ordinary kitten purchase arrangements. If you are transferring a payment from a retired-cat placement, refer to your specific written transfer terms and discuss them with us.

These purchase terms and our written health guarantee do not exclude rights under Australian Consumer Law. Read the ACCC’s explanation of consumer rights.

Getting ready for homecoming

Usually around 12 weeks, with veterinary clearance

Kittens usually leave at around 12 weeks of age. A veterinary examination and clearance are required before any kitten leaves. If a kitten is not medically cleared, we arrange the necessary veterinary care and delay collection or delivery until clearance.

Collection is by appointment in North Melbourne. Personally arranged delivery is also available, and interstate kitten delivery is generally available by prior arrangement. Discuss the destination and arrangements with us in advance; interstate transport costs are paid separately from the kitten price.

Before homecoming, prepare a quiet safe room with a litter tray, scratching surface, food and water, toys and somewhere comfortable to rest. Familiar routines and gradual introductions give your kitten time to adjust.

What comes with your kitten

Care and records

  • Veterinary health examination and first and second vaccinations.
  • Worming, flea treatment, microchipping and desexing for pet kittens.
  • Vaccination, veterinary examination, treatment and applicable desexing records.
  • Microchip transfer information; we arrange registration transfer.

Documents and familiar comforts

  • Official FCCV pedigree and registration documents.
  • Written purchase agreement and health guarantee.
  • A summary of the parents’ health testing.
  • Familiar food, toys and a scent-bearing blanket.
  • Current feeding instructions and settling-in guidance.

Support after you bring your kitten home

We regularly follow up during the initial settling-in period and offer ongoing general care and settling advice.

Familiar care, at your kitten’s pace

We explain your kitten’s current food and how to make dietary changes gradually, along with their vaccination and parasite-treatment history. Follow your veterinarian’s advice for boosters, ongoing prevention and health concerns.

Start with the safe room, then introduce more of your home, children and resident animals gradually. Your kitten’s confidence and routines will continue to develop in their new surroundings.

The written health guarantee

Our kitten purchase agreement includes a lifetime guarantee addressing congenital or hereditary health conditions. It provides for a contribution towards veterinary expenses, assessed case by case, rather than automatic full reimbursement.

A claim requires a written veterinary diagnosis or report and relevant test results. Read the agreement for the terms that apply to your kitten and discuss questions with us. This guarantee is additional to your consumer rights.

If you become unable to keep your Bengal, you must contact Wild Grace Bengals first. We will help find a suitable rehoming solution; this is not a guaranteed take-back arrangement.
